About Orana Steiner School
Orana Steiner School is the largest Steiner School in Australia (660 students). There are five Kindergarten groups and double classes from 1-10. In ACT Class 11 and 12 are part of a Senior College system. We currently have one Class 11 and one Class 12.
The site on the edge of Canberra totals 12 hectares of beautiful landscaped and natural grounds.
Canberra is a designed city and being the capital hosts an excellent museum, art gallery and many other national institutions. It is close to Sydney (3 hours drive), beaches, and ski fields. There are also many cultural activities within the city. Transport wise 40 minutes gets you from one side of town to the other. The school is 20 minutes from the airport. Streets are designed so parkways 100km speed limits are separated from through roads (80km) and safe quiet suburban streets.

High School Japanese Teacher
Orana is seeking a Japanese teacher who would like to explore new ways of teaching the language to the principles of Steiner education.
In 2012, Orana will introduce a new language program in the Primary School, in which all students in Years 4-7 will be divided into German and Japanese streams and each group will have four language lessons every week. This change will consolidate and develop the students’ language competency further. There exists a potential for a further development in the High School Japanese program.
High School Faculty Co-ordinator + teaching component
Orana is seeking a High School Co-ordinator. The position would require teaching qualifications at High School level and the teaching component is negotiable (as to time and subjects). It would be an advantage to have experience of the ACT Senior College system for Classes 11 and 12.
High School/Primary School Handwork/Design Technology Teacher
The Handwork teacher’s primary task is to teach and care for a group of children from Class 4 to Class 6 offering them a rich curriculum in handwork skills. The Textile teaching aspect is to cover all aspects of textile including pattern making, garment construction, fabric printing etc.
High School Science Teacher (Class 8-10), Chemistry (Senior College) (full-time, 1 year contract)
The subject teacher’s primary task is to teach and care for a group of children from Class 8 to Class 10 offering them a rich curriculum developed from the insights of Rudolf Steiner. They are expected to work with their colleagues in such a way that consistency of delivery is maintained while allowing for individual needs of the teacher and the class.
